19 February 2010. Demonstrating its close association with the International Space University (ISU), ESPI participated in various ways in this year’s ISU Annual International Symposium. |
The cooperation between ESPI and ISU has been getting more and more closer during the past years. ISU’s participation in ESPI events and publications (e.g. Walter Peeters as contributor to the Yearbook on Space Policy, John Farrow as session chair in the conference on sustainability and ISU’s participation in ESPRAN) is complemented by ESPI’s involvement in ISU activities. At this year’s ISU Annual International Symposium on “The Public Face of Space”, ESPI Documentalist Blandina Baranes presented a poster on the results of the Institute’s recent conference on “European Identity Through Space” (download here). This poster highlights the main findings and ideas of this event and puts it into the context of the conference theme thus providing a particular policy perspective to the issue of public awareness and identity building.

Besides Blandina Baranes’ poster, ESPI’s Director Kai-Uwe Schrogl, who was a member of the Programme Committee, was invited to chair the concluding session of the Symposium dealing with the “Future Directions”. The following day, he also gave a presentation on Space Traffic Management to the students of the ongoing master course of ISU. For his long-standing contributions to ISU, he was nominated to become Adjunct Faculty of the University.
