10 March 2009. Following the change in the Presidency of the European Parliamentary Space Conference (EISC) from the Czech Republic to the United Kingdom, ESPI will act throughout the year as the support institution for the UK Parliamentary Space Committee.
The Parliamentary Space Committee has appointed ESPI as the support institution for the 2009 European Interparliamentary Space Conference, which this year is hosted by the PSC in London. The PSC was delighted to accept ESPI's offer by its Director Kai-Uwe Schrogl to provide the administrative and logistical support for the main conference and related events. These events, which will be jointly funded by UK industry and by the UK Government, will comprise the EISC Plenary Meeting on 26/27 October in London and possibly another thematic event before the summer. ESPI will build on its experience in supporting the 2008 Czech Presidency throughout that year (see related webnews here ).
In ESPI, Project Manager Nina-Louisa Remuß will be in charge of this new task. ESPI's Treasurer Michel A. Jakob will also contribute based on his experience as a former assistant staff in the Austrian Parliament. The PSC expressed its confidence that the EISC 2009, with ESPI's support, will help to raise awareness in European parliaments of Europe's leading role in space activities.
