26 November 2013. It is today 10 years since the founding documents of ESPI were signed by the Austrian Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology, the Austrian Research Promotion Agency and the European Space Agency. Two years later the premises of ESPI were inaugurated, and since then ESPI has buzzed with space policy research, events and presentations.
In the life of a human being ten years are a substantial period of time, yet ten years will not bring a new-born to maturity. With a think tank like ESPI it is different. Ten years should bring maturity, and for ESPI it certainly has. In its lifetime ESPI has published 46 reports, 5 yearbooks (number 6 will arrive before the end of the year), 9 other books and 67 Perspectives. ESPI has also been the host of a myriad of events and conferences, and ESPI speakers appear often in space policy fora elsewhere. ESPI has many achievements to look back on, but, importantly, ESPI also sees a bright future with the rising curve of significance and accomplishment continuing to rise! ESPI is mature, but hopes to grow and develop also in the future in order to serve its diverse stakeholders and the general public in the best possible fashion!
