10steps_rev.jpg 17 December 2008. Based on the recent IAA/ESPI/SWF conference, the three organisations now jointly published the “10 Steps” which contain a policy roadmap for a new international approach to space utilisation.

Following the conference on “The Fair and Responsible Use of Space: An International Perspective”, which took place at ESPI on 20/21 November 2008 (related webnews here) the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA), ESPI and the Secure World Foundation (SWF) now jointly launched the finalised conclusions of this event. They are called “10 Steps to achieve the fair and responsible use of outer space” and reflect the presentations and discussions at the conference, which had been organised by ESPI’s Wolfgang Rathgeber and Nina-Louisa Remuß who also prepared the “10 Steps” flyer.

The three organisations hope that this policy document shows the way to an international framework, which is characterised by increased fairness and responsibility. The “10 Steps” will be i.a. presented to policy- and decision-makers at the upcoming session of UNCOPUOS.
