24 May 2012. ESPI was invited to make a presentation and contribute paper to a roundtable entitled “Securing the Peaceful Use of Space for Future Generations” that was convened in Waterloo (ON), Canada.
Jana Robinson, ESPI Resident Fellow, delivered a lecture entitled “Europe’s Emerging Policy Toward Space Security” at a roundtable entitled “Securing the Peaceful Use of Space for Future Generations” organized by Project Ploughshares, the Canadian Pugwash Group and Science for Peace on 23 – 25 May 2012. ESPI’s presentation focused on the policy issues related to current efforts to develop multilateral governance regimes for outer space with special attention to Europe’s activities in this connection (i.e. draft Code of Conduct for Outer Space Activities). It also touched upon the essential roles played by Space Situational Awareness (SSA) and transparency and confidence-building measures (TCBMs) in developing shared behavioural norms.
