28 March 2012. ESPI delivered a presentation on Select Space Policy Issues at the MilSpace 2012 Conference in Vienna, Austria

ESPI Resident Fellow, Jana Robinson, made a presentation at the annual MilSpace conference, organized by the SMi Group on 28 - 29 March 2012 in Vienna (programme available here). The presentation focused on some of the efforts to advance security in space, as well as policy options to address this issue. Among these efforts are the International Code of Conduct for Outer Space Activities (top-down), and the bottom-up initiative on “long-term sustainability of outer space activities” of the UN Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS). The presentation also made reference to the future political governance of space, including the transparency and confidence-building measures (TCBMs), supported by Space Situational Awareness. Both are practical tools that can promote these initiatives and assist their implementation. Jana Robinson also served as the Chairman of the conference.
