3 December 2009. At the prestigious “Space for Security and Defence in Europe” 2009, ESPI was tasked with giving an introduction to a high-level panel dealing with governance issues in this field.
Taking place from 3 to 4 December 2009 in Paris, the “3rd Space for Security and Defence in Europe” Conference, organised and supported by French space institutions and European space companies, again assembled all major actors in this field on the highest levels and discussed the whole range of issues concerning this policy area (conference website here). ESPI’s Director Kai-Uwe Schrogl was invited to provide introductive facts for the session on “Which governance for space activities in the frame of the ESDP?”. The presentation (download here) was based on research by ESPI’s Wolfgang Rathgeber and Nina-Louisa Remuß and posed the most pertinent questions related to actors and issues in this field. On the panel, representatives from DGA, EDA, ESA and the EP then discussed the questions arising in this area.
