un.jpg 5 June 2009. At the current session of the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (UNCOPUOS), ESPI reported about relevant activities in particular with regard to policy aspects of space and sustainable development.

Meeting in Vienna, UNCOPUOS held its 52nd session from 3 to 12 June 2009. ESPI is participating for some years as an observer to the Committee and its two Subcommittees (Scientific-Technical and Legal) and provides a variety of inputs to the inter-governmental discussions. The most recent activities, which have a direct relation to topics discussed at UNCOPUOS, are contained in ESPI’s statement (download here), which was delivered today by ESPI Project Manager Matxalen Sánchez Aranzamendi.

ESPI’s close link to UNCOPUOS was highlighted a few days ago, when the Chairman of the Committee, Amb. Ciro Arevalo Yepes, visited the institute (see webnews here).
