5 May 2009. At the 7th IAA Symposium on Small Satellites for Earth Observation, ESPI has been invited to organise a session on policy and regulatory aspects and present an overview analysis
For the first time, the traditional Symposium on Small Satellites for Earth Observation of the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA) decided to hold a dedicated session on policy and regulatory aspects at this years’ event, which is the major meeting in this field. This session comprised four papers, where members of the European Space Research and Academic Network (ESPRAN) organised by ESPI were selected as speakers. Following the overview analysis (download here) by ESPI’s Director Kai-Uwe Schrogl, who also chaired the session as its organiser, presentations were given by Bernhard Schmidt-Tedd and Leslie Jane Smith as well as Agnieszka Lukaszczky from the Secure World Foundation, which is hosted by ESPI. The almost two hundred participants at the conference appreciated the information and analysis provided by the speakers during that session and engaged in lively discussions about the effects of international and national regulations on small satellites.
