15 April 2015. Space Policy online released on April 3rd an article entitled “Security in space: Should space traffic management also concern payloads management?” authored by Resident Fellow Serge Plattard. The paper argues that the current and significant initiatives favouring principles for transparency and confidence building measures (TCBM) regarding a sustainable space  traffic management should be pushed further, addressing also the space payloads management issue. Associated with this, a multinational or a UN steered mechanism is proposed to be responsible for a space situational awareness system (SSAS), henceforth strengthening a safer and securer space environment.

This paper, along with three others authored by non ESPI contributors, is a follow-up of the Global Network Forum on Security in space held during the 65th International Astronautical Congress in 2014.
