copy of unoosa_june_2010.jpg 4 June 2010. The latest book in ESPI’s series Studies in Space Policy on “The Fair and Responsible Use of Space” was presented to the Director of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs and the Chairman of the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, both leading decision-makers in international space policy.

Meeting Mazlan Othman, the Director of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs UNOOSA) in Vienna and Amb. Ciro Arevalo Yepes, the Chairman of the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (UNCOPUOS) in Washington, DC, both personalities welcomed the publication of the “The Fair and Responsible Use of Space” in ESPI’s series Studies in Space Policy published at SpringerWienNewYork. The book (see related webnews here) contains the edited proceedings of a conference, which was convened in Vienna, jointly organised by the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA), the Secure World Foundation (SWF) and ESPI, which served as conference coordinator and host. The book is co-edited by Wolfgang Rathgeber, Kai-Uwe Schrogl (both ESPI) and Ray Williamson (SWF). The United Nations is a particular target audience for the publication and the recognition by the leading personalities is particularly valuable for its reception.
