12 July 2011. Issue 49 of the "ESPI Perspectives" series examines how to Anchor the Utilisation of EGNOS/Galileo and GMES and Other Space Applications to European public opinion.

EGNOS/Galileo and GMES are the two European Flagship Programmes that, together with SatCom, are part of the European Space Policy, providing strategic infrastructures essential for economic development and for improving the life of the European citizens. However, while Europe is making significant efforts for the development and deployment of the necessary assets, it has been somewhat slow in communicating the benefits of such systems to the decision and policy makers, to the user community and the public at large. This needs to be significantly enhanced if Europe wants to have a successful utilisation of these systems by serving other sector policies and the user communities.
