24-25 July 2014. ESPI presented its integrated space-based applications activities and humanitarian telemedicine project at the 7th EU-Korea Conference on Science and Technology (EKC), which was held at the Vienna University of Economics and Business
On the occasion of the 7th EU-Korea Conference, which focused this year on “Sciences and Technology for Humanity”, Resident Fellows Erich Klock and Alexandra Bonnefoy were invited to present, respectively, their projects on Integrated Applications and Humanitarian Telemedicine. Erich Klock was invited to speak at the “Robotics and Space Exploration” session, held on July 24th and presented both the work done by ESPI as well as a more detailed account of ESA’s Integrated Applications Promotion (IAP) Programme. With respect to this year’s theme, Alexandra Bonnefoy was invited to speak at the “Introduction to Inclusive Development and Cases for Appropriate Technology & Community Development” session, held on July 25th, and presented the findings of the humanitarian telemedicine report, which included the potential applications to assist developing countries in primary and secondary care. The conference was a great success, and included over 200 papers that were presented, as well as over 350 registered participants.
