UN 8 February 2011. In its capacity as permanent observer, ESPI reported during the current session of the Scientific Technical Subcommittee of the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space on recent activities relevant to this organ.
 

At the current two-week session of the Scientific Technical Subcommittee (STSC) of the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (UNCOPUOS), ESPI gave a statement on its activities relevant to this organ (download here). In particular its work on space for development, highlighted in the ESPI Report on “European-African Partnership in Satellite Applications for Sustainable Development. A Comprehensive Mapping of European-African Actors and Activities” (download here), received the attention of the delegations. Other issues highlighted were “Humans in Outer Space”, where the Institute will organize an evening event on 10 February and “Transparency and Confidence-Building Measures in Space”, where the research of the Institute has relevance for the agenda item on Long-term sustainability of outer space activities.
