08 June 2017. Satellite data has proven to be extremely useful to collect information that would otherwise be unavailable. A number of projects has shown that such data can be used to monitor international agreements, while satellite data has also been used in the proceedings before the International Court of Justice. The use of satellite data can be further extended to monitor international agreements, especially with technological improvements which allow more data to be collected. However, the use of satellite data is not without problems. What issues are being faced before satellite data can be used to monitor international agreements? Download the brief here:
