19 June 2017. On 13 June, ESPI hosted a group of students from the Master in Space Policies and Institutions programme organised by the Italian Space Agency (ASI) and Italian Society for International Organization (SIOI).
ESPI and SIOI have a long-stranding partnership and a joint committee composed by ASI and SIOI representatives selects each year an Italian Resident Fellow at ESPI, appointed for one year, among the students of the Master programme.
In the framework of their professional visit to Vienna in connection with the Plenary Session of the UNCOPUOS, the students visited ESPI and received a presentation of the Institute activities by ESPI Director, Jean-Jacques Tortora, and the Coordinator of Studies, Sebastien Moranta. Following this, four ESPI Resident Fellows presented their activities: Alessandra Vernile, presented the results of her upcoming report “The rise of the private actor”; Serge Plattard presented his report “The Governance of Galileo” wrote together with Amiel Sitruk, former Research Intern; Stefano Ferretti made a presentation of the report “Engaging with stakeholders in preparation of UNISPACE +50”, that he co-authored with Jean-Jacques Tortora, Elisabeth Veit and Alessandra Vernile; Matteo Tugnoli presented its future report “European access to space”, currently conduced with the support of Martin Sarret, Research Intern at ESPI.
Finally, a presentation of the activities of the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC), hosted at ESPI premises, was given by SGAC outgoing Executive Director Minoo Rathnasabapathy and the new Executive Director Clémentine Decoopman.
