Commercial Earth Observation for Boosting Policy Impact? An Evening Debate

On the sidelines of the ESA Living Planet Symposium, ESPI was pleased to co-organise this evening side event alongside the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS): “Commercial Earth Observation for Boosting Policy Impact? An Evening Debate“.

Amid global challenges and in the lead-up to COP30, high-level speakers debated how commercial Earth Observation can be leveraged for industry competitiveness and more effective policy implementation.

The event convened at ESPI’s premises at Schwarzenbergplatz 16, Top 1, 1010 Vienna, on 25 June 2025.

The evening event featured:

  • H.E. Dr. Tidiane Ouattara, President of the African Space Council of the African Space Agency
  • Simonetta Cheli, Director of ESA Earth Observation Programmes
  • Ioana Petrescu, Former Finance Minister for Romania
  • Alessandro Garbellini, Head of Space at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs

  • Milena Lerario, CEO of e-GEOS
