We are excited to share the second edition of the ESPI Annual Report for 2024, highlighting 2024 as one of growth for the Institute.
In 2024, space for security and defence remained a core topic, and ESPI convened its 18th annual Autumn Conference under the theme “Scaling European Space Capabilities for Security & Defence” alongside our first Roundtable of European Space Commands and Ministries of Defence. ESPI also expanded its membership base and cooperation with its members, inaugurated its new premises in the heart of Vienna’s first district, and expanded its European roots by establishing an initial presence in Brussels. 2024 also saw the growth of our education portfolio, as we hosted our inaugural summer school and accelerated our education-related activities both at our premises and with external stakeholders, reaching over 960 participants.
Internationally, we engaged in every global region both through our own Vienna Space Diplomat (VSD) initiative and by actively participating in events around the world, which included our largest-ever presence at the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in Milan.
ESPI also grew its research portfolio and engagement activities, publishing over 50 publications and engaging in over 160 events worldwide. Our online presence also continued to grow with over half-a-million views of ESPI content on our social media channels.
It is against this backdrop that we are releasing the ESPI Annual Report 2024 – A Year of Growth: Advancing the European Space Agenda, as a product to enhance our trust and transparency with our members, partners, and our wider audience in Europe and around the world. In addition to providing foundational information about ESPI, this latest Annual Report also delves into:
