On 13 May 2025, the European Space Policy Institute (ESPI) welcomed 30 14-year-olds from the GRG High School in Vienna, marking a first in its education portfolio.
The day started with a tour of the ESPI offices, including a Q&A session with ESPI Director H. Ludwig Moeller, followed by a space policy workshop in ESPI’s conference room.
Throughout the workshop, the students let their creativity flow with a collaborative task to establish a new civilization on an exoplanet. The students had the chance to use the conference room in a professional setting, working in groups and fishbowl interactive sessions, to think of new policies and guidelines for the newly named planet, Elysium. They even had the opportunity to create a flag for their new home!
This workshop demonstrates ESPI’s ongoing commitment as an education provider, broadening its scope to inspire even younger demographics towards a career in the space sector.
Keep an eye out for more workshops soon, and feel free to reach out to ESPI Research Fellow, Laura Corbett at <laura.corbett@espi.or.at> for more information, or if you might be interested in partnering with us for a workshop for your school or institution.
