On 11 March 2025, the European Space Policy Institute (ESPI) organised and hosted its first-ever Media Roundtable, in cooperation with the German Space Agency at DLR, in Berlin.
The Roundtable took place under the theme “The New Bundestag – Germany’s Role in Space in Europe” and convened speakers and participants to discuss the strategic importance of space, including power and sovereignty; how Europe needs to scale up to become a space power; and the role of space to address national and European priorities and challenges, including for security and defence.
Thematic pitches were delivered by the following esteemed speakers, and moderated by our Research Fellow seconded by DLR and Germany & Austria Relations Officer, Lina Pohl, which were followed by an interactive debate:
-
H. Ludwig Moeller ESPI
-
Walther Pelzer Deutsche Raumfahrtagentur im DLR
-
Juliana Suess Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik (SWP)
-
Matthias Johannes Wachter Bundesverband der Deutschen Industrie (BDI)
-
Marie-Christine von Hahn Bundesverband der Deutschen Luft- und Raumfahrtindustrie (BDLI)
-

We would like to thank the German Space Agency at DLR for their cooperation and for hosting this event, as well as our speakers and the members of the media who attended!
