Our first event in the USA, on the sidelines of the 40th Space Symposium

ESPI-BFNA 1st Space Foresight Workshop “The Ways to the Moon”, April 2025

On Friday 11 April 2025, aside the 40th Space Symposium in Colorado Springs in USA, we organised our first-ever event in the USA, doubling down on our international engagement agenda with the leitmotif of fostering a strong Europe as a partner to the World.

Produced in partnership with Bertelsmann Foundation (BFNA) and leveraging the Chatham-house set-up, our joint foresight workshop “The Ways to the Moon” addressed the future of lunar exploration with a particular spotlight on the transatlantic context, welcoming senior representatives of 20 different public and private organisations from both sides of the Atlantic (incl.  ministries, agencies, military, industry, academia or NGOs) .

Complementary to strengthening the transatlantic discourse, the outcomes of the workshop will be utilised to feed the space-focused part of BFNA’s RANGE online forecasting platform. ESPI and BFNA will organise additional workshops in 2025 in other global regions.

In addition to this event,  ESPI was present at the 40th Space Symposium throughout the Symposium week with H. Ludwig Moeller, Tomas Hrozensky and Fritz Merkle from ESPI’s Advisory Council, acting on our mandate to facilitate dialogue, build relationships and strengthen international cooperation, in synergy with Europe’s various policy actors also attending the Symposium.
