As space capabilities and skills become ever more vital to Europe’s security, digital sovereignty, and global competitiveness, a robust, innovative, and prosperous industrial base is indispensable.
Europe’s space industry is undergoing a double transformation:
- Externally, established players face mounting pressure from market disruption and geopolitical shifts resulting in receding market shares and lower exports.
- Internally, a selection of maturing startups – some reaching small midcap status – is reshaping the industrial fabric and aiming for global reach.
The need to align speed, scale, skill, and vision among industry leaders and policymakers is key, if we are to secure Europe’s place in the global economy.
To respond, ESPI convened two executive-level workshops in Luxembourg and Berlin, earlier this month, informing our upcoming report on how to strengthen Europe’s competitiveness and autonomy in space.
We thank the expert participants, our Advisors, and ESPI Industry Members, Thales Alenia Space and OHB, for their high-level of engagement, positive energy, and expert contributions, as well as our hosts, Luxembourg Space Agency and SWP, for their hospitality in Luxembourg and Berlin, respecitvely.
