Workshop Recap: “Towards a Safe Cislunar Space: Policy Priorities for Engagement”

On 12 May 2025, the European Space Policy Institute (ESPI) convened an exclusive, closed-door workshop under the theme: “Towards a Safe Cislunar Space: Policy Priorities for Engagement”.

As part of ESPI’s ongoing research into cislunar safety, the workshop focused on refining stakeholder positions, elucidating policy arguments and exploring how to align lunar ambitions with safety priorities. The event brought together 25 experts from national governments, international organizations, industry, and academia, fostering insightful discussions aimed at advancing Europe’s space safety goals.

ESPI would like to extend a big thank you to the Workshop’s participants for their invaluable insights and to the ESPI team, Research Fellow and Lead on EU Relations and Regulatory Affairs, Sara Dalledonne; Junior Research Fellow, Anastasiia Posnova; and Research Intern Weronika Krzyżak for the organisation of the event.

The full project will be publicly available later this year, so stay tuned to the ESPI channels for more updates!
