Earlier this year, Josef Aschbacher, Director General of the European Space Agency, announced the creation of the European Centre for Space Economy and Commerce (ECSECO). The main objective of ECSECO is to provide a European platform for interdisciplinary discussions and research on space economy and commerce. The European Space Policy Institute (ESPI) has been granted the great privilege of hosting and supporting the Secretariat of ECSECO.
The launch event will be organised on July 4th at 2PM at the European Space Policy Institute (ESPI) premises in Vienna and will be livestreamed. The event will gather a selection of high-level actors and analysts of the European space economy, including Dr. Aschbacher, who will officially kick-off the activities of the Centre. The event will be composed of a few short speeches and a panel discussion, and it will be held in a hybrid format with the speakers present in person and the audience joining online. The discussion during the panel will focus on topics of further development of the European space sector, and the potential role of an organisation such as ECSECO.
