More and more countries in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region are actively involved in harnessing space activities in order to support a variety of national policy objectives. As their programmes continue to evolve and adapt to the new realities and opportunities of the 21st century, strengthening the policy dialogue between the stakeholders of the two regions is becoming a pressing need to better gauge respective interests, needs and priorities for the future

In this context, ESPI and APRSAF are well positioned to act as a platform to fulfil this objective. Building on the fruitful outcomes of the 1st Inter-Regional Space Policy Dialogue held in 2018, a Space Policy Practitioners Workshop will be hosted at ESPI premises on the 15th of June 2019.

The purpose of this joint ESPI-APRSAF event is to provide representatives from both regions with the opportunity to exchange views while learning more about their experiences in the development and implementation of space policies in the respective regions. The Workshop will feature several presentations by experts from both regions and a roundtable exchange on the recent developments and different approaches to space policies. A key objective of the event will be to identify opportunities to leverage intra-regional and inter-regional cooperation in order to advance the national space objectives in the two regions. The participants of this closed workshop are invited government/space agency officials from the Asia-pacific and European region who will be in Vienna to attend the COPUOS meeting.
