The European Space Policy Institute (ESPI) will have the great privilege to host the European Centre for Space Economy and Commerce (ECSECO) that was announced by ESA Director General, Josef Aschbacher. In this frame, ESPI will support ESA for the management and secretariat of the Centre.
The ECSECO will provide a European interdisciplinary forum for discussions and research on space economy and commerce. The setup of the Centre will be similar to the one of the European Centre for Space Law (ECSL), which facilitates activities related to space law.
The ECSECO will gather professionals active in the field of space economy and commerce, who share an interest in the development of the European space sector. Interdisciplinarity lies at the heart of the ECSECO, hence, the Centre will bring together members from a variety of backgrounds, inter alia, economists, lawyers, scientists and engineers, who work in the private sector, academia, public institutions and international organisations. The activities of the Centre will comprise:
- Conferences & workshops;
- Networking sessions;
- Working groups;
- Collaborative research;
- Competitions for students; and
- Summer schools.
The activities of the Centre will be officially launched during a kick-off event on 4 July 2022. Please follow our website for further details. If you wish to be notified by email about the event, please send a message to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
According to its Charter, membership to the Centre is open to natural persons from ESA Member States, Associate States, and other European States having concluded a cooperation Agreement with ESA who have a proven and active interest in space commerce and economy. If you want to become a member of the ECSECO, please express your interest through an email to: email@example.com.
