From 24 – 24 January 2024, the European Space Policy Institute (ESPI) was proud to be a part of the 16th annual European Space Conference in Brussels, Belgium with our largest presence to date!
As this year’s Conference ends, we are happy to share a special edition of our Director’s Perspective recapping the Conference and reflecting on some of the key takeaways. You can read and download this edition here or by clicking on the adjacent image.
This year’s Conference convened the largest ESPI presence, with our staff moderating and leading many of the important discussions.
ESPI staff moderated various panels, including:
- Senior Researcher and Lead on European Engagement, Tomas Hrozensky, moderated the panel discussion on Global Partnerships For and Through Space.
- Research Manager, Matija Renčelj, moderated a discussion on the Future of European Space Exploration.
- Director, Hermann Ludwig Moeller, moderated the panel on Heads of Agencies: Views on the Future of Space Policy, Economic Security and Autonomy.
- Research Fellow and Lead on Regulatory Affairs, Sara Dalledonne, moderated the session on Space Traffic Management.
- Research Fellow, Clémence Poirier, moderated the debate on Cybersecurity as a Strategic Enabler for a Resilient EU Space Ecosystem.
ESPI was also excited to convene Conference attendees to two ESPI-led dialogues, including:
- Associate Manager and Lead on International Engagement, Marco Aliberti’s session on Ambition, Speed & Space Policy – Europe’s Road to Space Power.
- Director, Hermann Ludwig Moeller’s session on Space for Peace, Prosperity and Future Generations: A Vision for Europe in Space in 2040, inspired by our 2023 landmark policy vision: ESPI2040.
In addition, we also welcomed many participants to the first ever ESPI booth where we engaged in many productive meetings and conversations with the movers and shakers of the European space community.
