On 19 May 2022, the General Assembly of the European Space Policy Institute (ESPI) approved the appointment of Hermann Ludwig Moeller as the Director of the Institute, effective 1 September 2022. Mr. Moeller will be succeeding Jean-Jacques Tortora, who has served as ESPI’s Director since June 2016.
Currently, Mr. Moeller serves as Head of Strategy, Programme and Transformation Office in the Directorate of Telecommunications and Integrated Applications at the European Space Agency (ESA), where he shapes ESA’s future and contribution to “space for a digital connected Earth” and the Directorate’s proposal to the 2022 ESA Ministerial Council meeting. Before his current role at ESA, he was the Head of Institutional and European Programmes Office, the Head of GMES Space Segment Office and holder of the ESA Douglas Marsh Fellowship at NASA.
In addition to Mr. Moeller’s appointment, ESPI’s General Assembly also approved the extension of Jean-Jacques Tortora’s mandate, who will continue to serve as Director of the Institute until Mr. Moeller’s term commences on 1 September 2022. Everyone at ESPI looks forward to welcoming Mr. Moeller to the team.
