Europe in the Future and the Contributions of Space

This report by ESPI aims to explore how space can benefit society in future endeavours. While predicting the future can be a futile task, history often has a cyclical nature and can be analysed to offer future advice. Space exploration has already contributed to the development of technology, and thus societal change, but working with space specifically provides a wider scope and differing environments. Europe’s trends for 2030 concern population growth, power axes and climate change, and it is important to consider how technological developments can affect these trends. ESPI’s report explores these intersections and identifies how Europe can remain ahead of the trends and be properly prepared for a future with space.
